Psychotherapy

Empathetic Psychotherapy in Austin, Texas

Having someone who gets you and cares matters.

You may be struggling more than you should in your life and feel unfulfilled. You may not be good at moving your life in positive directions. For many years I’ve helped people in comforting and compassionate ways to improve their lives. I’m also skilled at helping people see things about themselves they didn’t see before, and to change old dysfunctional patterns.

Empathy is the most important ingredient for good therapy. Building trust and feeling comfortable with your therapist is vital. I work to be a neutral and nonjudgmental person to provide a confidential space for you to discover the best path forward based on your values.

I ascribe to an eclectic model of therapy, drawing from different techniques depending on what works best for you. As a psychodynamic therapist I help you discover how you might be contributing to your own problems and how past experiences shape who you are today. I'm particularly drawn to attachment theory and object relations theory, which both help us explore how our relationships influence how we relate to others and the world around us.

“The attitude of the psychotherapist is infinitely more important than the theories and methods of psychotherapy.”

- Carl Jung
